getting ahead of myself

Ursula Dean

a preview of this fall's collection .. very last minute decision to do something for the stores but i had some great fabrics on hand and a couple of ideas, voila.  the new dress style is long and roomy and is basically a variation on the cottage dress.  i'd like to make it for late spring-early summer in a light linen too.  the print silk i used for a blouse and dress.  making the collar alone almost killed me for some reason.  i had all of my old sewing books out studying peter pan collars for a couple of days.  in the end it turned out pretty.  the blouse has shell buttons up the back.  the skirts are my favorites, just one is pictured here.  box pleats in front, very full but sitting at the low waist.  it feels nice to tuck a blouse in, which i seldom do.  with this skirt it feels forgiving somehow.  the skirts are lined in black silk and have pockets at the side.  i had a really amazing fabric, a wool/hemp in black with white stitching, just a gorgeous textile.  i was afraid it might be too heavy for the skirt but it feels great on and looks amazing.  so i tried the jacket and shell in this same fabric and again, just a very substantial feeling garment.  the shell is great over the dress or the blouse or just with a white t-shirt and jeans.  there is a lot of mix and match with this small collection.  i'm calling it The Victorian Amoeba collection:>

  • I agree with Kristina! So.good. Maybe I’ll find some boots in Italy…the hemp/wool + boots sounds like my fall uniform sorted.

  • This might be my favorite Modaspia collection yet!

  • This collection is so lovely! I especially like the third look. It makes me want to walk through a park as the leaves are turning red and yellow :)
