easter weekend

you would think from these photos it was just my daughter and i camping :>  that's because my husband and my son do not fancy their picture being taken most of the time so i don't push it.  but we were all there and it was nice.  i worried my little dog would be miserable the entire time.  instead she loved being outside, smelling flowers and basking in the sunshine.  at the beach she loved the warm sand - who doesn't?  we were all in better spirits by the time we got back.
on the drive home, my son grabbed my phone and started scrolling through years of pictures, holding one up for us all to see every few minutes.  they were mostly from different backyard parties, vacations, his sister and he mugging for the camera.  i think just the physical transformation these kids have gone through in the last few years was enough to make us all laugh.  they were both on the chubby side for awhile too .. a lot of preteens are.  but ohhhh they laughed at themselves and eachother and it was kinda joyous.  we laughed at some of the photos from the trip to europe a couple years ago - the ones that didn't make it to instagram, where we all look tired and i look like i need a drink.  we just laughed - with lexie sleeping between me and my daughter in the back seat.  it was kinda the best part of the trip but one that never would've come without the "work" lol that goes along with a camping vacation where you're cooking your own food and house keeping doesn't come by in the morning.  camping trips are harder but the pay off is big :>

Riding in the car being together with shared reminiscences, it’s enough.

Sounds like the best medicine, ever. I’ll never stop marveling at how fast they grow and change. ❤️
