beach camping

we spent a couple of days out at dillon beach with our little trailer.  at times it felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. i guess the beach fills up on the weekends but mid-week the only people we ran into were those that live there.  where the bay meets the ocean, is a small community living in these ancient trailers from the 50s and 60s. they’re friendly. they catch crab and fish and many of them have been there all their lives. they rent their little spot from the family who own the 1000 acres along this coast.  apparently the cal. coastal commission’s decided to give them the boot and everyone’s been asked to move their ancient relic by next year.  it’s sad to see anyone kicked from their home but this is like the end of something from a generation ago, something you don’t see out here anymore.
